If Carlsberg did Cycling Holidays…

From the moment we arrived and unpacked until we left to go home we were looked after as if we were in the professional peleton. The chalet is set in stunning alpine scenery on the outskirts of Morzine with only a short walk to the town. The accommodation was extremely comfortable and peaceful; much appreciated after a day toiling over alpine cols. The food, prepared by friendly helpful staff, was restaurant quality with more than enough to eat; essential when you have spent all day consuming energy bars.

All the rides are well mapped and fully supported with transport if you need to bailout mid ride. A qualified mechanic is also on hand to look after your bikes and at the end the day the bikes are cleaned and checked over. What more can you ask for.

In short the best five days cycling I have ever spent.

A long weekend of riding the famous white roads of Tuscany. The area is the heart land of Chianti, with its rolling hills and historic villages it is Italian riding at its best. The area hosts the annual L’Eroica classic ride. In March the Worlds best road riders gather here to race the Strada Bianche, a one day 190km race previously won by luminaries such as Fabian Cancellara and Cadel Evans. Our base for the duration of your stay will be the stunning hilltop village of Radda in Chianti.

This is the perfect Springtime escape, and for some a completely new riding experience. The fully supported rides and pre ride briefings will guide you along these magnificent roads, you can concentrate on finding your climbing legs, working on your technique and getting a few consistent days of riding under your belt.

The support vehicle will look after your nutritional, mechanical and clothing needs during the day and we will stop in some great villages on route for that quick espresso and perhaps a freshly made panini.

A stunning 4 star hotel will be your base for 3 nights. After each ride the Rpm90 team will clean your bike, massages will be available to freshen your legs. You can relax at the hotel or explore Radda before dinner.  To re fuel we will be in the safe hands of local chef Roberto Giallini for 2 nights, he creates local and seasonal dishes and has hinted that April is the time for fresh Asparagus, Truffle, Venison and Strawberries all served up with some local Chianti Wine. One other evening we will venture into a neighboring village to experience a classic Italian Restaurant, the pizzas here are magnificent.

This is a suburb weekend riding on your modern bike. Carbon, titanium and the latest steel frames are the general order of the day.

Itinerary

  1. Day 1 Friday 85km Riding together at a steady pace the group will head to Montevarchi before taking on some twisting climbs and descents, a refuel near Pianella. Then is your chance to try your first sections of Strada Bianca as we climb back to Radda.
  2. Day 2 Saturday 130km The big ride out, the group will head south and take on some classic Eroica roads. Views of Siena will be the back drop before heading south east to a well deserved Coffee in Lupompesi. Its then that the route is taken to follow some longer sections of Strada Bianca as you wind your way home through the Tuscan countryside. A challenging day for both man and machine!
  3. Day 3 Sunday 70km After the previous days riding you will spin your legs out for around 35km on some superb tarmac roads before we stop in Siena's famous Piazza del Campo for a coffee and biscotti. This famous square is where Fabian Cancellara rolled into a roaring crowd to take victory on the 2012 Strada Bianca race. Another 35km takes us home where there is a chance for a bit of climbing competitiveness on the last climb up to Radda, this will finish off a great weekend of Italian cycling.
